Hunger Action Month is the Feeding America network’s annual, nationwide campaign to spread awareness and engage the public in the movement to end hunger. The campaign brings attention to the reality that at a time of historic need, at least 1 in 8 of our neighbors in east-central Illinois are experiencing food insecurity.
Here's how you can take action:
Volunteer!
Don't miss Operation Orange, EIF's most highly anticipated volunteer event of the year! Join us Thursday, September 18, to repack food that will be distributed to our neighbors experiencing hunger across our 21-county service area. Volunteers receive an Operation Orange bandana!
Click here for event details and registration. Operation Orange is made possible with support from Christie Clinic, Commerce Bank, Farm Credit Illinois, Meijer, RE/MAX, and Spiros Law.

Take action with the whole family at our Kid Zone repack on Saturday, September 20! Children 5+ are welcome to join the family to make a difference during Hunger Action Month.

Donate!
The need Eastern Illinois Foodbank is working to meet is great, but our community is greater. Your donation empowers EIF to continue nourishing stronger communities—and with every $1 providing three meals to a neighbor, no donation is too small!
Wear orange on September 9!
Join us in wearing orange, the color of hunger awareness, on Hunger Action Day. Post a photo on social media of you and your class and/or colleagues wearing orange. Be sure to tag EIF!
Host a food drive!
Food drives help stock the pantries of local families experiencing hunger, and raise awareness about the importance of supporting EIF as more of our neighbors than ever face food insecurity. You can hold a traditional drive to collect physical donations, or set up a virtual drive to collect donations!

Share resources!
You probably know more people than you realize who can receive food assistance. Did you know a two-income household with a monthly income of $5,288 or less qualifies? Share resources like our Food Finder (it’s like Google Maps for food assistance!) or our list of school markets on social media—you never know who you'll help.
