Eastern Illinois Foodbank has a plan for expansion.
Our 39,000-square foot facility has reached its limit in both size and suitability. The unprecedented demand created by COVID-19 requires us to take action now. By adding 18,000 square feet of warehouse space, we'll be able to increase our efficiency, accommodate more nutritious, fresh product and extend the number of people we serve. These changes will allow us to stay nimble as we emerge from the pandemic and enter a new era of foodbanking.
This project isn't just about a larger warehouse. It's about efficient use of our facility and the ability to distribute more nutritious, fresh foods. And it's only possible through our community's generous philanthropic support.
Expanding and improving our facility ensures that we will be a vital resource in eastern Illinois for years to come. To accomplish the expansion and meet the growing needs of our service area, we are launching a $3.6 million campaign.
