Volunteer
Requirements
Eastern
Illinois Foodbank -- and all of our agencies and the 35,000
people served each month -- appreciate your willingness
to volunteer of your time, talents and energies to meet
our Volunteer Opportunities. However, there are a few simple
rules we ask you to follow to make the most of your time
commitment.
Please
remember that the Foodbank operates an extremely large warehouse
with numerous pieces of equipment in operation. Safety,
security and attention to our code standards are absolutely
essential.
-
Every volunteer must complete a registration/waiver
form prior to commencing work at the Foodbank in any
capacity and each day work is provided.
- The
minimum age for volunteering in the warehouse is age
14, unless accompanied by overseeing parent or guardian.
- Groups
of youth under age 16 must be accompanied by one or
more responsible adults - one for every five youths
is the norm.
- The
dress code for volunteer is casual and comfortable
- jeans, shorts, workpants, overalls, t-shirts, sweatshirts.
- Proper
footwear - sneakers, work shoes or boots -- is absolutely
necessary.
- There
is no smoking in the facility, and food/drink are
allowed only in the lounge room.
Most
importantly, it should be noted and respected that the food
and all of the products in the warehouse are intended solely
for people in need and for distribution to our Member Agencies
only. Volunteers are not to consume or remove any product
from its case or shelf storage.
With just these few simple rules, your volunteer work
can be safe, productive and highly rewarding!
