Running a Food Drive

Running a Food Drive can be a wonderful experience for a company, church or other organization, and a fun and easy way to support Eastern Illinois Foodbank. By hosting a Food Drive or Food Collection at your company, school or place of worship, you help the Foodbank continue to meet the needs of so many people in eastern Illinois.

You can hold a Food Drive any time of the year, for whatever length of time desired. The Foodbank will be glad to meet with representatives, discuss alternative strategies, and provide staff materials you can use, including a handy brochure on "Organizing a Food Drive." We can link you with other companies, schools or organizations that have had successful drives and collection efforts.

Some points to consider in setting up a food drive:

  1. Plan ahead
  2. Set a goal
  3. Choose a specific time period
  4. Get management/leadership involved
  5. Promote your drive -- provide information
  6. Build awareness and visibility
  7. Make it fun and simple to participate
  8. Encourage financial contributions
  9. Utilize exciting competitions and creative themes
  10. Celebrate your success

We look forward to working with you!!
