Bequest Giving

Giving support to Eastern Illinois Foodbank for hunger relief can occur when the donor decides, after reflection and consultation, to set aside specific funds, portions of an estate or a particular asset property to go to hunger relief upon the donor's death.

Bequest Gifts are especially meaningful because they provide long-term support that strengthens the Foodbank's ability to meet future challenges in the fight against hunger and food insecurity in eastern Illinois.

Bequests are typically made and affirmed in one's Will, Trust or Estate Plan. Such a document establishes the gift and gift amount from estate assets. A Bequest Gift to the Foodbank can be:

  • Specific - there is a particular item or among your identify;
  • Residuary - the contribution comes after all estate expenses have been resolved; or
  • Contingent - the gift is honored only when beneficiaries cited in the estate have failed to survive and their financial needs are no longer a consideration.

The Bequest Gift can be set up as a restricted investment in the future of the Foodbank, in which case there is a specific desire or direction for the funds. You direct the Foodbank to apply the gift in a particularly meaningful way for a special purpose you favor.

And, of course, a Bequest Gift can be changed over the years or modified to reflect different commitments.

We would be pleased to work with you and your family, and estate advisors, in making a Bequest Gift.

Fighting Hunger Into the Future Circle

Eastern Illinois Foodbank is extremely grateful for the benevolence of people who choose to leave a Bequest Gift to fight hunger in eastern Illinois as part of their estate plan. Accordingly, we have created the Fighting Hunger Into the Future Circle to honors those who include "fighting hunger" in their wills, trusts and estate planning.

Such Bequest Gifts are extraordinarily meaningful because they provide long-term support that strengthens the Foodbank's ability to meet future challenges - in procuring food and in reaching even greater numbers of individuals and families who are hungry.

We can enroll you in the Fighting Hunger Into the Future Circle through an email communication, or we can meet with you. Knowing of your Bequest Gift really enables us to plan for the future and acknowledge your legacy to continue to provide food for the hungry - even after your death.

Can there possibly be a greater legacy!
